Jay Adrick Re-Elected ATSC Vice Chairman

Harris Vice President of Broadcast Technology Jay Adrick has been re-elected ATSC vice chairman for a third one-year term by the ATSC board of directors.

Adrick is also in the midst of his third three-year term on the ATSC board. In addition to his board duties, he represents Harris in the activities of the ATSC Technical and Specialist groups alongside Harris employees Chris Lennon, Joe Seccia and Robert Schmidt. The Harris team of four has been active in driving ATSC standards development including mobile DTV, 3D and advancements to current DTV standards, while looking into the future toward a next-generation digital television system.

Adrick’s re-election comes as he prepares to serve on a panel at the PBS Technology Conference next week, taking place at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas April 11-13. Adrick will join industry colleagues Charles Cooper (engineer at du Treil, Lundin & Rackley) Joe Igoe (CTO of WGBH) and moderator Jim Kutzner (senior director, advanced technology, PBS) for the session Mobile DTV: Are We There Yet, scheduled for 2-3:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, in the Roman Ballroom.

The session will cover business model questions and implementations, as well as updates on emerging capabilities including the Mobile Emergency Alert System. Adrick said he intends to specifically discuss receiver development and updates to the ATSC M/H standard.
