DSI Intros CameraShark Cellular Video Backhaul

DSI RF Systems, a provider of technical and engineering solutions to the broadcast industry for over 25 years, introduces The CameraShark, a low latency, high-definition video codec system, using cellular networks for remote video backhaul.

Compact, weatherproof and ready to install in any outdoor environment, the CameraShark is designed for backhauling high- definition video feeds from traffic and weather cameras as well as remote locations, surveillance and video conferencing.

CameraShark uses H.264 video compression, with a choice of 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi technologies to transmit live video in real time back to the studio or monitoring point.

The CameraShark is an integral part of a new line of products that DSI is introducing this year. Products in the line include The NewsShark,  a cellular based ENG transmission system and NewsShark Radio, a portable transmission system that provides an affordable means of covering stories for radio in any market.

The CameraShark system is one encoder and one decoder has an introductory system price of under $15K and will be available July 2012.
