Margaret Brennan Named CBS News Correspondent

Margaret Brennan today was named a correspondent for CBS News. Principally assigned to the State Department, Brennan will also serve as a general assignment correspondent based in Washington. Her appointment is effective in July.

Most recently, Brennan anchored Bloomberg Television’s InBusiness with Margaret Brennan, a weekday program broadcast live from the NYSE that covered the top political, economic, financial and consumer news impacting the global marketplace.

Previously, Brennan was a general assignment correspondent at CNBC, where she reported for NBC’s Today and Nightly News, covered the retail industry, and worked with the late Louis Rukeyser.

Brennan is a Whitehead Fellow with the Foreign Policy Association, a member of the Economic Club of New York, serves on the Advisory Board of the Smurfit School of Business at the University College Dublin and the Junior Board of the Waterside School.

She graduated with highest distinction from the University of Virginia, with a bachelor’s degree in foreign affairs and Middle East studies and a minor in Arabic language. As a Fulbright-Hays Scholar, she studied Arabic at Yarmouk University in Irbid, Jordan.
