Greg Shepperd Named KHBS-KHOG ND

Hearst promotes the managing editor of its KCRA Sacramento, Calif., to lead news operations at its Arkansas ABC affiliates.

Hearst Television’s ABC affiliates  KHBS-KHOG Fort Smith-Fayetteville Ark. (DMA 101) today named Greg Shepperd as news director. He assumes his new duties on Sept. 4. He succeeds Dawn Dugle who left in late May.

Shepperd has been a newsroom manager with Hearst Television stations for the last seven years. Most recently he was the managing editor of KCRA Sacramento, Calif. Prior to that, he was assistant news director of WDSU New Orleans, Louisiana. Shepperd also worked as executive producer and producer at WDSU.

Before joining Hearst Television, Shepperd worked for WCNC Charlotte, N.C., for six years in a variety of news producing roles.

Among his many career accomplishments, Shepperd has been honored for his contributions to multiple Edward R. Murrow awards, including a national award in 2011 for KCRA’s breaking news coverage of the Galleria mall fire.

“Greg has distinguished himself throughout his career as a newsroom leader with a unique blend of exceptional team leadership skills, and an eye for what it takes to deliver great local television news,” said KHBS-KHOG President-GM Brian Sather.

Shepperd graduated cum laude with a degree in communications studies from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte in Charlotte, N.C.
