Meredith Names New GMs In KC, Las Vegas

Darrin McDonald moves from KVUU Las Vegas to head KCTV-KSMO Kansas City and is succeeded by KVVU general sales manager, Todd Brown.

The Meredith Local Media Group announced today that Darrin McDonald, VP-general manager of Fox affiliate KVVU Las Vegas (DMA 40), is returning to Kansas City (DMA 31) to take over as VP-GM of its KCTV (CBS)-KSMO (MNT) duopoly. To replace McDonald, Todd Brown, KVVU’s general sales manager, is being promoted to VP-GM of KVVU.

At KCTV-KSMO, McDonald succeeds Bobby Totsch, who left the stations in October. McDonald has more than 20 years of broadcasting experience and has worked in a variety of roles including VP-station manager, general sales manager and director of sales at various locations around the country. He previously worked as general sales manager at KSMO for two years before his move to KVVU in 2008.

Brown brings more than 25 years of sales and management experience to his new role at KVVU, including a strong background in news direction, program strategies and promotional initiatives. Prior to joining KVVU in 2002, he worked at KSEE Fresno, Calif., where he held a variety of management roles.  Brown also worked at KJEO Fresno and KKBB Bakersfield, Calif.

Paul Karpowicz, president of the Local Media Group, said: “Darrin has been a great leader at KVVU and will use his skills and expertise to build upon our presence in the Kansas City market. Todd is well poised to be successful as he steps into his new role at KVVU, and will be an asset to our group’s leadership team.”
