Snell Names New North America President

Snell has promoted from within and named a new chief for its North American operations.

The company announced Wednesday that Paul Martin, former global managing director for TV Everywhere, the company’s product line that includes channel-in-a-box and media asset solutions, was promoted to president of Snell North America shortly after the new year. He replaces Jonathan Goldstein, who “left on good terms,” according to a company spokesperson.

Martin, who helped develop, service and market many of Snell’s flagship products, including its ICE channel-in-a-box solution, said he understands the economic and technical impact that consumer electronics are driving in the broadcasting industry. “As our customers respond to these challenges and embrace new technologies and workflow models, we work right alongside them, ensuring they have the right media management and playout solutions that maximize revenue opportunities and operational efficiencies,” Martin said in a statement. “Our router, switcher, modular and conversion product lines are used across the United States and around the world in broadcast operations of all sizes, and we continue to deliver future-proof solutions that support broadcasters’ changing operations.”

Prior to working for Snell, Martin worked at British Telecom in senior business-transformation roles, and also worked in various manufacturing, logistics and program management roles at Motorola Semiconductor in the United States.

Phone calls and emails to company executives weren’t immediately returned regarding Goldstein’s departure. Snell CEO Simon Derry said “Under Jonathan’s leadership we experienced strong sales growth in the Americas and earned high marks for customer service. Paul brings that same focus on customer service, along with a proven track record of organizational development, which will help us continue to build out operation in North America.

Snell plans to announce a major network customer for its ICE CiaB solution at this year’s NAB Show.
