‘Ellen’ Gets Renewed Through 2017

The Warner Bros. talkshow is reupped by the NBC Owned Television Stations and other groups covering 96% of the U.S., extending the 10-year-old show through 2016-17.

Daytime talker The Ellen DeGeneres Show has been renewed by the NBC Owned Television Stations as well as some 179 stations representing more than 96% of the country through the 2016-17 season, it was announced today by Ken Werner, president, Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution and Valari Staab, president, NBC Owned Television Stations.

The series will continue to air on the 10 NBC-owned stations: WNBC New York, KNBC Los Angeles, WMAQ Chicago, WCAU Philadelphia, KXAS Dallas-Fort Worth, KNTV San Francisco, WRC Washington, WTVJ Miami, KNSD San Diego and WVIT Hartford, Conn.

In addition, the series has also been sold to stations including Hearst Television, Gannett, Belo, Sinclair Broadcast Group, LIN Television, Post-Newsweek Stations, CBS Television Stations, Raycom Media, Scripps Media, Allbrighton Communications, Cox Broadcasting, Communications Corp of America, Grey Television, Journal Broadcast Group, Local TV, Media General, Meredith, Nexstar Broadcasting, Max Media, Mission Broadcasting and others.

Nationally, Ellen is the No. 1 syndicated talk show (tied with Dr. Phil) for the 2012-13 season among women 25-54. It has also posted a national rating increase of 13% year to year and is one of only three returning talk shows growing women 25-54 audience over the prior year, according to Warner Bros. “Ellen is the crown jewel of the NBC Owned Television Stations’ daytime lineup.  In fact, Ellen is the top choice for women 25-54 in her time period in seven of our markets, including New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, this season,” said Staab.  “We are proud and thrilled to extend our relationship with Ellen DeGeneres, all the great people working on her show and our friends at Warner Bros.”

The Ellen DeGeneres Show, is in its 10th season. It has earned Daytime Emmy Awards. In September 2012, DeGeneres received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and in October 2012, DeGeneres was presented with the 15th Annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
