NBC Taps Swindler To Lead Syndication Sales

The veteran exec will add to his duties as president of strategy and operations, getting oversight of NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution, reporting to Ted Harbert. The reorganization also means new positions for Frances Manfredi and Valerie Schaer

Long-time NBC ad sales and finance executive Edward Swindler will now oversee operations at NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution, which former president of the division Barry Wallach had overseen until he left in January, an NBCU spokesperson confirms. NBCUniversal launched the hit daytime talk show Steve Harvey last fall and next year is rolling out the Meredith Vieira Show.

Swindler, who joined NBC in 1984, last year was promoted to president of strategy and operations. He will also continue in that role where he is responsible for maximizing revenue and profitability for the NBC network, its local stations, domestic distribution, first-run syndication and affiliate relations.

Swindler, who will remained based in New York City, reports to NBC Broadcasting chairman Ted Harbert.

Among the NBCU executives reporting to Swindler are Robert Fitzpatrick, EVP of business and legal affairs, and Bo Argentino, SVP of ad sales.

Sean O’Boyle, EVP and general sales manager of program sales, is reporting to Swindler and Frances Manfredi, president of NBCU cable, new media distribution and off-network sales.

Valerie Schaer, EVP of creative affairs, is in charge of program development and public relations for the division.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Donna Mills, SVP of marketing, communications and affiliate relations, will report to Manfredi and Schaer, as will Alexis Rouse, VP of publicity.
