Mo’Nique Talk Show In Works At Disney-ABC

The new chat fest hosted by the comedian-actress is designed to debut next fall. It’s unclear where ABC would slot the show, but it is not a replacement for Disney-ABC's daytime talk show Katie with Katie Couric.

ABC is developing a daytime talk show with comedian-actress Mo’Nique (Monique Angela Jackson) for fall 2014, according to TV industry sources. The show, now in development with Vicki Dummer, EVP of current series and specials at ABC Entertainment Group, has not yet been green lit.

The sources say Mo’Nique’s show would not be a replacement for Disney-ABC’s daytime talk show Katie with Katie Couric. Now in its second season, the syndicated Katie last week averaged a 1.8 household rating/5 share, based on Nielsen metered-market ratings.

Mo’Nique hosted a talk show on BET from 2009 to 2012 and starred in the UPN sitcom The Parkers from 1999 to 2004.
