NATPE 2014

NATPE Attendance Pacing Ahead Of Last Year

The association announces that top Twitter executives will be showcased at a keynote session focused on harnessing Twitter’s power to unlock new business opportunities

With participation by domestic and international buyers hitting record levels, the upcoming NATPE Content First market and conference in Miami is poised to have one of its most active business markets ever, according to NATPE President-CEO Rod Perth. Attendance figures for domestic and international buyers attending NATPE are pacing well ahead of last year, according to the association.

In addition, a keynote session is scheduled with Fred Graver, Twitter’s head of TV; Jean-Philippe Maheu, Twitter’s managing director, global brand & agency strategy; and Glenn Brown, Twitter’s director of promoted content and sponsorships, will address the theme “No Barriers. New Business,” and examine how buyers, sellers, distributors and advertisers can leverage the extraordinary power of Twitter to enhance their business. Lauren Zalaznick, founder of LZ Sunday Papers, will moderate the conversation.

“We are very optimistic based on the numbers that the 2014 NATPE market and conference will be one of the most active in our history,” said Perth.

With more than 645 million active users, Twitter has created a staggering number of connections and an incredibly powerful mechanism for thoughts and ideas. An average of 58 million tweets — more than 9,000 per second — are sent every day, and an estimated 135,000 new Twitter users sign up daily.  Twitter’s partnership with TV networks, producers and talent over the past five years has introduced a new creative and business canvas as viewers across all genres tweet about programming in ever-growing numbers.

“The keynote conversation will have particular resonance with the NATPE community as we debate how to maximize the power of content through social media,” added Zalaznick. “We will discuss the new ways for producers, distributors, network and local station executives to use Twitter to boost ratings, revenue and engagement with audiences.”

The market and conference will once again be held at the Fontainebleau Resort, Miami Beach (Jan. 27-29).
