Daisy Ballmajo Joins WSCV Weekday Anchor Desk

NBC-owned Telemundo affiliate WSCV Miami (DMA 16) today named Daisy Ballmajó co-anchor of its  6 and 11 p.m. weekday newscasts effective immediately.

“Daisy joined the Telemundo 51 news team in October of 2010 as host of Buenos Días Miami, the station’s daily 6 a.m. news and information program, and over the last three years she has demonstrated that her experience as a journalist is equally matched by her commitment to serving our community,” said Helga Silva, WSCV VP of news and content.

Ballmajó was born in Cuba where she studied journalism at the University of Havana. In Cuba she worked as a reporter and program host, a career which continued when she moved to the Dominican Republic before settling in Miami where she also reported and hosted programs at the SBS and America TeVe television stations before joining WSCV to launch Buenos Días Miami.

While hosting Buenos Días Miami Ballmajó has also collaborated on other newscasts as a reporter and writer. Her weekly segment Rostros de Nuestra Ciudad (Faces of our City) airs on Saturdays during the 5:30 p.m. newscasts and features people in the community who are making a difference and whose stories can inspire others to persevere and succeed. Ballmajó has also regularly reported and produced special news series for the 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts.
