Deborah Collura Named GM Of WCNC

The former news executive at KPRC Houston is tapped by Gannett to lead its NBC affiliate in Charlotte, N.C.

Gannett-owned NBC affiliate WCNC Charlotte, N.C. (DMA 25), today named Deborah Collura president and general manager.  The appointment is effective June 2. She succeeds Timothy Morrissey who left the station following its acquisition by Gannett from Belo

Collura has held many leadership roles at a number of stations. Most recently she was vice president of news at KPRC Houston. In addition to her role at KPRC, she was VP of news for Post-Newsweek Stations where she oversaw news operations for its six properties.

Prior to her role in Houston, Collura was VP of news for WDIV Detroit and WTVJ Miami. She has also held positions at KTSP Minneapolis-St. Paul; KCRA Sacramento, Calif.; WTEN Albany, N.Y.; and at KSDK St. Louis.

Collura received a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Northern Illinois University.

Five months without a general manager! Station needs to be rebuilt from the top down. No HD news!

    Perhaps you can show us in research where being in HD is the deciding factor if someone views news on a channel or not – as it is near the bottom of reasons to watch. Content is king. Has always been.
