Terry Crews Tapped To Host ‘Millionaire’

The actor will take over for Cedric the Entertainer on the Disney-ABC syndicated game beginning this fall.

Terry Crews has been named the new host of Disney-ABC’s Who Wants to be a Millionaire starting this fall, the syndicator announced today.

Crews, who stars in the Fox sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine and may be best known for appearing shirtless in Old Spice commercials, will replace Cedric the Entertainer who is finishing up his first season hosting the show. Cedric replaced Meredith Vieira who is launching her NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution daytime talk show this fall.

So far this season, Millionaire ranks No. 4 among game shows with a 0.5 adult 18-49 rating, down 17% year to year. It trails Debmar-Mercury’s Family Feud and CBS Television Distribution’s Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.

In households, Millionaire is down 8% to a 2.2 rating. Among women 25-54, it is down 9% to a 1 rating.

Disney-ABC also announced that James Rowley has been named Millionaire’s new executive producer.

The New York-based game show is moving to Stamford, Conn.
