Debmar-Mercury In 10/90 Deal For ‘Partners’

If the new show starring Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence does well in its summer run on FX, it will go into broadcast syndication for fall 2017.

The Debmar-Mercury sitcom Partners with Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence will debut on cable network FX on Aug. 4 as a 10/90 deal where FX will order 90 additional episodes if the first 10 achieve an undisclosed ratings goal.

On the show, Grammer is a powerful Chicago lawyer who has been fired from his father’s law firm. Lawrence is a lawyer and community activist who’s going through a divorce.

If Partners gets the go-ahead for 100 episodes, it will be sold into broadcast syndication for fall 2017.

Debmar-Mercury has had some luck with the 10/90 arrangement. The Charlie Sheen comedy Anger Management that debuted on FX in 2012 will begin in broadcast syndication this fall.

More recently, Debmar-Mercury’s Saint George with George Lopez finished its first 10 episodes on May 8, so far without FX picking up the additional 90 episodes. The show’s production company Lionsgate says production has for now been shut down.
