NAB’s Top Tech Kevin Gage Leaves

The trade group’s chief technology officer is pursuing “new opportunities.” Lynn Claudy, NAB SVP, will serve as the association technology department’s interim head.

Kevin Gage, National Association of Broadcasters EVP and chief technology officer, has left the association to “pursue new opportunities,” an NAB spokesman says.

Gage, who could not immediately be reached for comment, turned down an association renewal contract, according to NAB’s Dennis Wharton.

Lynn Claudy, NAB SVP, will serve as the association technology department’s interim head.

“Kevin Gage had a successful tenure at NAB and deserves generous credit for his leadership of the NAB Labs program and for forging a broadcast agenda that fully embraced moving digital radio and TV content to multiple mobile platforms,” Wharton says. “Kevin pushed boundaries and was an agent of change within our industry. We wish him well as he moves on to pursue new opportunities.”

“NAB remains committed to the Labs and is reviewing organizational options that optimize an aggressive innovation strategy for local radio and television stations,” Wharton adds.

Gage originally joined the NAB in May 2011. Before coming to NAB, Gage helped develop the DVD specification and production facilities at Warner Bros. Studios, and helped launch The WB Network. He also was a founding member of the Advanced Television Enhancement Forum, a cross-industry initiative that developed standards for interactive TV.
