‘Queen Latifah’ Getting New Showrunner
Todd Yasui is taking over Queen Latifah as executive producer-showrunner on Sony Pictures Television’s rookie daytime talk show. He is replacing former Chelsea Lately creator-producer Corin Nelson who is departing the show.
Yasui was previously Queen Latifah’s co-executive producer. He joined the show this season after serving as executive producer on the U.S.-based Australian talk show Rove LA. He also was executive producer on CBS’s Late, Late Show with Craig Kilborn and he was a segment producer on NBC’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Sony made other changes to Queen Latifah’s team, including naming Jack Mori and Ianthe Jones co-executive producers.
The show is adding consulting producer Amy Coleman, who previously worked on CBS Television Distribution’s Jeff Probst Show and Oprah. Fernita Wynn comes to the show from NBCUniversal’s Steve Harvey as supervising producer.
“As we look ahead to our second season of the Queen Latifah Show, we are proud to be able to elevate the key members of our team who contributed greatly to our initial success and we look forward to building on that success with fresh energy and depth of expertise that Amy and Fernita bring to the team,” said Holly Jacobs, executive vice president of syndication and reality programming at Sony Pictures Television, in a statement.
Queen Latifah was sold into broadcast syndication for mostly two-year deals. Its launch group is CBS Television Stations, which airs the show on such stations as WCBS New York and KCBS Los Angeles.

This season through the week of May 12, Queen Latifah is averaging a 0.7 women 25-54 rating. It’s tied with NBCUniversal’s Jerry Springer at No. 11 among syndicated talk shows.
