WLNY Expanding 9 P.M. News To Weekends

The evening newscast will begin July 12 with anchor Cindy Hsu, meteorologist Elise Finch and sports anchor Steve Overmyer.

CBS-owned independent WLNY New York (DMA 1) will expand its News AT 9 P.M. to seven days a week on Saturday, July 12. The newly expanded weekend broadcast will include anchor Cindy Hsu, meteorologist Elise Finch and sports anchor Steve Overmyer.

“WLNY’s 9 p.m. newscast addresses viewers’ needs to have their local news at an earlier time in the evening and the newly expanded broadcast will now allow audiences to do that on the weekend as well,” said David Friend, SVP, news, CBS Television Stations, and news director of WLNY and WCBS New York.

“The success of our weekday newscasts on a yearly basis proves a need to present the same opportunity to viewers on Saturday and Sunday. We’ve generated an audience at a time where previously local news was not available in the market,” added WLNY President-GM Betty Ellen Berlamino.

Hsu has been at WCBS since 1993. Finch has been a part of the WCBS weather team since April 2007. Overmyer joined WCBS in January 2011 as the station’s weekend sports anchor.
