Historic Mt. Wilson Tower Complex For Sale

The Poole Tower Complex in California was first developed in the 1950’s by the late legendary Los Angeles broadcaster John H. Poole.

Media Services Group announced today that it has been retained by Poole Properties Inc. to explore the possible sale of the historic Poole Tower Complex. The complex is one of the last family-owned sites to operate at Mt. Wilson, Calif., one of the most famous multi-tower broadcasting locations in America.

Rising almost 6,000 feet above the Pacific Ocean, the Poole Tower Complex was first developed in the 1950’s by the late legendary Los Angeles broadcaster John H. Poole.

In 1952, he was granted the first commercial UHF television construction permit in Los Angeles for KBIK on ch. 22. In 1953, the station moved to Mt. Wilson and changed call letters to KBIC. In 1959, the complex became home to Poole-owned KBIG-FM.

Among the current tenants at the Poole Tower Complex are iHeartMedia’s KBIG-FM and KYSR-FM, KWHY-TV and KXOS-FM.

Bob Heymann of the Chicago office of Media Services Group has been retained by Poole Properties Inc. to handle this divestiture.
