Jon Hitchcock New GM Of WTIC-WCCT

The former GM of KYW Philadelphia is tapped to head Tribune’s Fox and CW outlets in Connecticut.

Tribune Broadcasting on Monday announced the appointment of Jon Hitchcock as vice president and general manager of WTIC and WCCT, Tribune’s Fox and CW affiliates, respectively, in Hartford-New Haven, Conn. (DMA 30). He succeeds Chris Geiger who left the station in January.

Hitchcock will oversee all aspects of the stations, including strategic planning and day-to-day operations. He will join Tribune on April 6 and report to Lynda King, chief operating officer of broadcast media.

A Connecticut native, Hitchcock, spent 17 years at WTNH (ABC) & WCTX (MNT) in Hartford-New Haven.

Most recently, Hitchcock was the president and general manager of KYW (CBS) and WPSG (CW), the CBS-owned duo in Philadelphia,  a position he held since 2009.

Hitchcock is an alumnus of Springfield College.
