James Aitken Named GM OF KDAF Dallas

Tribune taps the former GM of KREM-KSKN Spokane, Wash., to run its Dallas CW affiliate.

Tribune Broadcasting today announced appointed James T. Aitken vice president and general manager of its CW affiliate KDAF Dallas-Fort Worth. He succeeds Roger Bare, GM of Journal’s KIAH Houston, who has been running both stations since 2013. Bare remains at KIAH.

Aitken will oversee all aspects of the station including strategic planning and day-to-day operations.  He will join Tribune on March 31 and report to Kathy Clements, chief operating officer of Tribune Broadcasting.

He joins Tribune from KREM-KSKN Spokane, Wah., where he was president-GM of the CBS/CW duopoly.

Previously Aitken was VP-GM of KASW and station manager of KTVK, both Phoenix; president-GM of Texas Cable News in Dallas; and director of program development for WFAA Dallas.

Aitken has served on several industry and community boards including the Endowment Board of the Cronkite School of Telecommunications/Mass Communications, the Washington State Association of Broadcasters and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

He holds a BA of Communications with honors from Texas A&M University.
