Grass Valley’s Sara Kudrle A Tech Trendsetter

Sara Kudrle, product marketing manager for infrastructure, monitoring and control within the Strategic Marketing Group of Grass Valley, has been named TVNewsCheck’s 2015 Technology Woman to Watch.

She will be honored during the same ceremony and reception that will see Cindy Hutter Cavell, senior engineer and practice manager of Cavell, Mertz & Associates, receive TVNewsCheck’s 2015 Women in Technology Leadership Award. The ceremony and reception will take place at 6 p.m. on April 14 in Room N-227-228 of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The annual Technology Women to Watch Awards recognize female engineers who show potential for making significant contributions to the advancement of their industry in television, online and radio technology.

Kudrle’s 15-plus years as an engineer in the broadcast industry started at Tektronix where she worked in VideoTele.com.

From there, she joined Continental Electronics, working within the TV transmitter group where she was responsible for developing exciter control software.

Next, she joined Miranda/NVISION and was responsible for several projects within the router control group.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Kudrle has authored several papers for NAB, PBS and SMPTE conferences and has been published in the SMPTE Motion Imaging Journal and Broadcast Engineering.

Her paper on “Fingerprinting for Solving A/V Synchronization Issues within Broadcast Environments,” received the 2012 Journal Award for best article.

She is active within SMPTE serving on several committees and within the standards community.

Kudrle is a current SMPTE secretary-treasurer for Sacramento as well as the Western Region Governor of SMPTE. She is also a member of IEEE.

She received her degree in computer science with a minor in mathematics from California State University Chico.
