Nexstar Ups Stone To GM In Monroe, La.

Nexstar Broadcasting Group today promoted Randy Stone to vice president and general manager of Fox affiliate KARD Monroe, La.- El Dorado, Ark. (DMA 137) and associated digital services, including Bounce TV, community Web portal Myarklamiss.com and myarklamiss.biz He will also oversee Nexstar’s relationship with Mission Broadcasting’s NBC affiliate KTVE under a joint operating agreement.

Stone will assume his new responsibilities immediately and report to Julie Pruett, SVP of Nexstar Broadcasting.

Stone has 30 years of combined broadcast television and sales management experience with a comprehensive background in local news production, digital services, entertainment programming, new business development, inventory control and regional sales.

Since 2009, he served as VP-GM of Nexstar’s television and digital operations in Grand Junction, Colo., including MyNetworkTV affiliate KGJT as well as CBS affiliate KREX and its satellite stations KREG and KREY. During that time, Mr. Stone was also responsible for managing KFQX (Fox) under a local marketing agreement.

Before joining Nexstar, Stone was the general sales manager  of KAUZ Wichita Falls, Texas.

Prior to that, from 2006 to 2009 he was the director of sales of WRSP-, WCCU and WBUI Springfield-Decatur, Ill. Before his tenure in Illinois, he was with Grant Telecasting for nine years as the director of sales at KLJB and KGWB (now KGCW in Quad Cities-Davenport, Iowa,  market, while also acting as the GSM of Grant’s Midwest Region, overseeing all sales efforts for six network-affiliated broadcast television stations — now owned by Nexstar.

Earlier in his career, Stone worked as a GSM of WPMI-WJTC Mobile, Ala., and GSM-national sales manager of WZDX Huntsville, Ala.

Stone earned his Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Alabama and served as president of the University’s Alpha Epsilon Rho Honorary Broadcasting Society from 1979 to 1980.
