Cordillera Tech VP Andy Suk Retiring

Cordillera Communications’ longtime engineering and technology leader, Andrew Suk, will retire from the broadcasting industry on Dec. 31. Suk was named director of engineering for the group in 1990, assumed his current position in 2002 and has served with the company for nearly 35 years.

Prior to joining Cordillera, he was chief engineer at KIVI Boise, Idaho, and media systems engineer for William Rainey Harper College in Palatine, Ill. Suk is an active member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers and a senior member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers where he holds the highest certification as a professional broadcast engineer (CPBE).

“I’ve had a rewarding career during an exciting time in our industry,” Suk said. “What has made my career even more incredible has been the opportunity to work with the outstanding people of Cordillera Communications and Evening Post Industries.  I’ve truly enjoyed every day.”

Cordillera Communications’ President Terry Hurley commented on the pending retirement: “Andy has admirably led technical operations for the group for decades and it’s difficult to contemplate replacing that level of institutional knowledge and expertise. Through the digital conversion, HD expansion, not to mention hurricanes and fires, he’s been an invaluable member of the team. Andy has earned the respect of everyone at Cordillera, and across the television industry, and will definitely be missed.”

A search for Suk’s successor is underway.
