Nexstar Names Rafael Archilla Billings GM

The industry executive and Montana native with 16 years of local broadcasting experience will succeed Sandra Zoldowski at the top of KSVI, KHMT and YourBigSky.com.

Nexstar Broadcasting Group today appointed Rafael Archilla vice president and general manager of ABC affiliate KSVI Billings, Mont. (DMA 166) and the station’s associated digital services. In his new role, he will also oversee Nexstar’s relationship with Mission Broadcasting’s Fox affiliate KHMT under a joint operating agreement.

Archilla assumes his new responsibilities immediately and reports to Brian Jones, Co-COO of Nexstar Broadcasting Group.

Archilla replaces Sandra Zoldowski who was recently promoted to GM of Nexstar’s Grand Junction-Montrose-Glenwood Springs, Colo. television and digital operations.

Archilla’s career in broadcast television and sales management spans more than 16 years, with a background in programming, digital services, inventory control, new business development as well as local, national and regional sales.

Prior to joining Nexstar, he was general sales manager of KULR Billings, Mont., for eight years. Prior to Billings, he was general sales manager of KWCH satellite stations KBSD, KBSH and KBSL in Wichita-Hutchinson, Kan.

From 2000 to 2003 he served as regional sales manager of KSNW satellite stations KSNG, KSNC and KSNK in Wichita-Hutchinson.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Before that he was local sales manager of KLJB Davenport, Iowa.

His broadcast career began in 1997 at KBAK-KBFX Bakersfield, Calif., where he was a local account executive before being promoted to national sales manager. e also has sales and management experience working for a national franchise service business and an upscale hotel operator.
