Raycom Closes On KNIN Boise Purchase

Raycom Media has closed on its $14.5 million purchase of KNIN, the Fox affiliate in Boise, Idaho (DMA 107), announced in May.

Paul McTear, Raycom Media president-CEO said: “With this purchase Raycom Media continues to extend our presence beyond our traditional footprint in the southeast. Boise is a growing market, and we are excited to have the dedicated employees of KNIN Fox 9 join the Raycom Media family.”  

Until last spring, KNIN had been owned by Journal Communications, which merged its broadcast operations with The E.W. Scripps Co., effective April 1. In approving the Scripps-Journal merger application, the FCC required the divestiture of KNIN because Scripps also acquired the Boise ABC affiliate, KIVI, through the Journal merger.   

Scripps has entered into a shared services agreement with Raycom Media to provide services to KNIN. KIVI will provide technical, news programming, master control and administrative services to KNIN under Raycom Media’s direction as the licensee. Raycom Media will program and conduct all advertising sales for KNIN.

Scripps and Raycom Media share a similar arrangement at their stations in West Palm Beach, Fla.
