Plenty More ‘Ellen’ In The Works

The talk show is renewed by NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations and Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution through the 2019-20 season.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show just got a big vote of confidence as the NBC owned stations renewed the show through the 2019-20 season.

The renewal announcement was made jointly today by Valari Staab, president, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations, and Ken Werner, president, Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, which distributes the show.

The deal means Ellen will continue to air on 10 NBC-owned stations in the nation’s largest markets for at least four more seasons after the current season (2015-16). The 10 NBC stations are WNBC New York, KNBC Los Angeles, WMAQ Chicago, WCAU Philadelphia, KXAS Dallas-Fort Worth, KNTV San Francisco, WRC Washington, WTVJ Miami, KNSD San Diego and WVIT Hartford, Conn.

“For more than a decade, Ellen has anchored the daytime lineups of the NBC-owned stations, offering our viewers a great afternoon show, delivering a strong lead in for our early evening newscasts and helping to launch new hits,” said Staab in a prepared statement. “We’re proud of our partnership with Ellen, her fabulous team and our friends at Warner Bros., and we are thrilled to extend our relationship with them.”

“We are thrilled to continue our 13-year partnership with the NBC Stations which delivers to their communities the entertainment and inspiration of Ellen,” added Werner in a prepared statement.

The deal with the NBC-owned stations means Ellen will be sticking around for a while. By the time the term of this renewal ends, the show will have aired for 18 seasons. It premiered in September 2003.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

In announcing the renewal deal, the two companies stressed the strength of Ellen in attracting women 25-54 — improving its ratings in the demo this past November by 7% over a year earlier.
