WKBW Adds Weekend Morning Newscasts

Beginning Feb. 27, Scripps-owned ABC affiliate WKBW Buffalo, N.Y. (DMA 53), is adding two additional hours of local news on Saturday and Sunday mornings to complement Good Morning America on ABC.

“Our viewers don’t take weekends off and mornings are a prime time when they need news and information the most,” said Michael Nurse, VP-GM of WKBW. “We are pleased to offer our viewers a fresh new weekend morning news from 6-7 a.m., followed by GMA from 7-8 a.m. and another hour of 7 Eyewitness News from 8-9 a.m. on both weekend days.”

The weekend newscasts will be anchored by Ali Touhey and Meteorologist Kaylee Wendt.  WKBW recently hired both Touhey and Wendt from Rochester,N.Y. 

Touhey is a multimedia journalist who started her career at WICZ Binghamton, N.Y., and worked as a reporter at WROC Rochester, N.Y., and was the chief of staff for New York State Assemblyman Sean Hanna. Touhey is a graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo.

Wendt is a meteorologist with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology with a minor in broadcast meteorology from State University of New York at Brockport. She recently worked at WHAM Rochester as a meteorologist and weather producer.
