Gray Makes Senior Management Promotions

Following the company's recent growth, it promotes its five senior vice presidents — Jim Ryan, Kevin Latek, Bob Smith, Nick Waller and Jason Effinger.

Gray Television announced Wednesday that it has elevated five executives to the rank of executive vice president.

A new management structure, of which the promotions were a part, will “allow us to remain agile and flexible as we continue to grow our company and proactively confront the many exciting challenges and opportunities before us,” said Gray CEO Hilton Howell.

The promotions:

Jim Ryan is now EVP and CFO. Previously, he was SVP and CFO. He will continue to oversee accounting, finance, tax, benefits and risk management functions at all levels in the company. He has been with Gray Television since 1998.

Kevin Latek is now EVP and chief legal and development officer. Previously, he was SVP of business affairs. Latek joined Gray in early 2012 as general counsel after 15 years as a media lawyer for a Washington firm.

Bob Smith is now EVP and co-COO. Previously he was SVP of the Midwest and West regions. He had a long career as a sales manager and general manager for various stations prior to being named a regional VP for Gray in 2002.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Nick Waller is now EVP and co-COO. Previously he was SVP of the Mid-Atlantic and South regions. He spent 20 years with Datasouth Computer Corp. prior to becoming general manager of WCTV Tallahassee, Fla., and a regional VP for Gray in 2005. He has been with Gray since 2002.

Jason Effinger is now EVP and chief digital and technology officer. Previously he was SVP for media and technology. He spent many years in news and operations positions and became a regional VP for Gray in 2007. He has been with Gray since 2002.
