Fox Names Kurland Business Affairs EVP

Craig Kurland today was been named EVP of business affairs, Fox Broadcasting Co., effective immediately. Based in Los Angeles, Kurland will be responsible for overseeing legal and business affairs for the network.

Most recently, since 2013 Kurland was SVP, business affairs, Twentieth Century Fox Television. There, he was responsible for negotiating key business terms for all forms of development and production, program license, talent deals, rights and format deals and writer/producer agreements on all pilots and series produced by the company.

Kurland joined Twentieth Century Fox Television from NBC Universal Television, where in his most recent role he was SVP, broadcast network and studio business affairs. Responsible for managing the company’s business affairs department, his mandate was to oversee all negotiations involving development and production agreements for NBCU’s series, mini-series and movies-for-television, as well as license agreements.

Kurland began his tenure at NBCU in 2001, when he joined the company as director, program and talent contracts, before being subsequently promoted to director of business affairs in 2003 and then VP, business affairs, the following year. He was promoted to SVP in 2007.

From 1998 to 2001, Kurland was an associate in the entertainment/media transactional department at Troop Steuber Pasich Reddick & Tobey in Los Angeles. There, he drafted and negotiated various production and media/advertising contracts (including theatrical actor deals, producer deals, talent internet content and endorsement deals, and television series production and license deals), and worked in all capacities on various entertainment litigation matters. Kurland began his career as an associate at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy before joining Dewey Ballantine LLP in 1997.

Kurland graduated with honors from Duke University and earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania.
