New TV Promos From Accross The Country
At least 20 Sinclair-owned stations posted “stories” on their website starting last Thursday hyping a new “Keep America Great” hat for sale on the Trump campaign’s website. All of the stories appear to have initially linked directly to the campaign’s online store, though that link has since been removed on some of the stories.
A news section inside Facebook’s mobile app will be run by journalists and not just algorithms, the company says.
The now annual competition sponsored by TVNewsCheck and the BEA asks student journalists to reimagine news storytelling for linear TV, mobile and social with an eye toward attracting younger audiences.
WOFL Orlando News Director Resigns
Jeff Zeller, news director for Fox-owned WOFL Orlando, Fla., has quit. Zeller’s departure follows that of Allyson Meyers, who last month announced her resignation as general manager. She was replaced by Mike McClain.

Sportscaster Pat Clarke Gone From WESH
In a matter of a few days, CNN host Chris Cuomo and contributor April Ryan were involved in separate altercations, both captured on video. A third network figure, host Don Lemon, was accused in a civil suit of harassing behavior stemming from an encounter last summer. There is no indication that the episodes are related, but CNN has repeatedly suggested the Cuomo encounter was “orchestrated” to provoke the anchor-host. The network sees itself as subject to threats in the wake of relentless criticism and provocations from President Trump.
Nearly a third of U.S. adults (31%) follow local news very closely, but local news does not play an equally vital role for all Americans. Older Americans, black adults and those with a high school education or less show considerably more interest in local news than their counterparts, according to a new analysis from Pew Research Center. These same groups prefer getting their local news via the TV rather than online.
