NBC’s Tokyo Olympics Off To Rough Start
For three straight nights, viewership for the Tokyo Games has been down more than 30% compared to the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016, and the network has been hit by a steady stream of bad news regarding American competitors and it’s discussing makegoods with advertisers. However, the numbers did allow NBC to easily win the week’s primetime ratings competition with an average of 8.1 million viewers. ABC had 3.5 million, CBS had 2.3 million, Univision had 1.6 million, Fox had 1.3 million, Ion Television had 1.1 million and Telemundo had 950,000. Fox News Channel led cable networks, averaging 2.05 million viewers in primetime.

Reigning Olympic gymnastics champion Simone Biles is out of today’s events in Tokyo after appearing to sustain an injury while participating in the Team Final, the International Gymnastics Federation has confirmed. The U.S. Gymnastics team released a statement shortly after she exited saying she had suffered a “medical issue” and that she would be assessed to determine whether she can participate further in the Games.
Tamron Hall’s syndicated daytime talk show is moving to ABC-owned WLS Chicago, where it will air in place of Windy City Live at 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, starting Sept. 6. Soon to kick off its third season, the New York-based Tamron Hall has been airing on Weigel Broadcasting’s WCIU and The U since 2019.
