ABC News and CNN are both using Facebook to solicit feedback ahead of next weekend’s town-hall style presidential debate.
In a repeat of 2015, PBS was the single biggest winner Wednesday night, with CBS right behind in second place, to more than dwarf all other competitors at the 37th News and Documentary Emmy Awards. PBS took home 14 statuettes, while CBS received seven.
The deal will cover the three presidential debates and the vice-presidential debate, too. The streams build on earlier live streaming of the party conventions, and they won’t carry any advertising, as ABC News wants to see how many viewers engage with the content on the outside platform.
Sara Haines is the new co-host of The View, joining Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Candace Cameron Bure, Paula Faris and Raven-Symoné, who all are returning next season, marking one of the least dramatic season-to-season panelists sweep-outs of the past few season.
NBC Nightly News led the month with an average of 7.64 million total viewers, according to Nielsen. That just edged out Word News Tonight’s 7.54 million for the month.

Media Outlets Feud Over Pool Coverage
On the eve of this year’s political conventions, the five news networks that traditionally pool resources to provide video from the political events — ABC News, CBS News, CNN, Fox News and NBC News — have informed news outlets that aren’t members of the pool that they will need to begin paying significant new fees in return for access to live coverage, not just at the conventions but debates, presidential press conferences, and many other events. With the Republican and Democratic Conventions right around the corner, ABC News is doubling down on live video. Its website now support eight simultaneous live streams and its apps are pushing video consumption with autoplay, Joseph Lichterman reports. “We have a new [executive producer, Dan Silver] who is focusing heavily on producing more video for our audience,” said ABC’s vice president of product Doug Vance.
