The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences — the East Coast counterpart to the Los Angeles-based Television Academy — is shuffling its leadership, which includes switching who oversees production of its most visible event, the Daytime Emmy Awards.

The name of the network behind one of the unstructured reality program Emmy category’s contenders was included in the description that appears on the ballot below its name, a big no-no.

The veteran CBS newsman will be recognized for a lifetime of achievement and service to the profession of broadcast and digital journalism on Friday, Sept. 6, at Excellence in Journalism 2019 in San Antonio, Texas.

The results are in for the 40th annual Sports Emmy Awards. ESPN and NBC tied for the most trophies with six apiece, and their respective network groups also played to a draw with eight each.

Awards will be presented in three categories on May 21 — The MFM Rainmaker Award, The MFM Working Capital Award and the BCCA Contributor Award.

The winners of the annual awards for exceptional professional journalism will be honored at an awards banquet June 21 at the National Press Club in Washington. Entries included submissions from television and radio broadcasts, newspapers, online news outlets and magazines. The TV station winners included KPRC, WDIO, KARE, WVUE, WTHR, KCCI, KDVR, WVUE, KNTV and WVUE.

Tribune Broadcasting’s SVP of marketing and creative services will be honored at the annual Promax Station Summit on June 20.

The first Peabody Awards of 2019 were announced today, with eight documentaries being honored and Kartemquin Films (Minding the Gap, Hoops Dreams) set for an Institutional Award for its “commitment to unflinching documentary filmmaking and telling an American history rooted in social justice and the stories of the marginalized.”

The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation will honor Sandra Oh, Tisha Thompson, Rachel Maddow, Connie Britton, Elizabeth Perkins, Patricia Arquette, and Leah Remini among others on May 21 in Los Angeles. Local and student award winners will be honored at the Gracie Awards Luncheon on June 26 in New York.
