Waypoint Media’s Jackson, Tenn., NBC-CW affiliate is feted by the Advanced Television Broadcast Alliance for its programming, business acumen and local commitment.

Fox News anchor’s Shepard Smith was the recipient of the Radio Television Digital News Foundation’s Leonard Zeidenberg First Amendment Award at a ceremony in Washington Wednesday, telling a crowd of Washington journalists that he was committed to the primary mission of journalism, which he said was being accurate, honest, thorough and fair, to never knowingly misinform, and to correct and apologize when the inevitable mistake happens.

Judge Judy Sheindlin will receive the Emmy Award for Lifetime Achievement at the 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards this spring, Variety has learned. Sheindlin is the first of her genre (courtroom or legal programming) to be recognized with this award.

America’s Public Television Stations celebrates the senior U.S. senator from Maine with the group’s Champion of Public Broadcasting Award, citing her longtime support for federal funding for public media.

The charitable group’s 2019 Leadership Awards will be presented at the Broadcasters Foundation Breakfast on April 10 during the NAB Show in Las Vegas.

The Amazon series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel won the first three awards handed out Sunday, sweeping the comedy series awards. It won best ensemble in a comedy series, as well as individual honors for Rachel Brosnahan and Tony Shalhoub, whose win was a surprise in a category that included Bill Hader (Barry) and Michael Douglas (The Kominsky Method).

Madeline Noland, who chairs the ATSC committee supporting implementation of ATSC 3.0, has played a key role in developing the advanced approach to broadcasting, shepherding it through standard-setting processes.

The new NAB Show exhibitor awards program will recognize breakthrough products in multiple categories.

Netflix led the way among all networks and studios with this year’s SAG nominations, garnering 15 nods thanks to programming like GLOW, Ozark, Grace and Frankie and The Kominsky Method. Ozark was among the select group of titles to snare four nominations, along with A Star Is Born and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Station winners include WFOR Miami, WETA Washington, KNTV San Francisco and WTSP Tampa. The winners will be celebrated on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, at the 77th annual awards ceremony, hosted by 60 Minutes Correspondent Lesley Stahl and NPR’s Ailsa Chang, host of All Things Considered.
