The Peabody Awards have today announced their third round of winners, with We Are Lady Parts and The Wonder Years taking home prizes in the entertainment category. Other notable winners include the HBO Max documentary In the Same Breath, which was presented by Lisa Ling, and ABC News’ The Appointment, presented by Jenny Slate. Winners will be announced each day this week through Thursday, with celebrities virtually presenting each of the winners online in short video clips.

Entertainment Tonight hosts Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner are set to emcee the 49th annual Daytime Emmy Awards, which will air live June 24. This marks the first time the duo will host the show, which is set to air live (delayed PT) on CBS and on demand on Paramount+. Frazier and Turner became the first Black duo to host an entertainment show when she came on board in 2021; Turner also is the first Black woman to host ET in the show’s 41-year history.

Dan Rather has received the Peabody career achievement award, with Dolly Parton presenting the broadcast journalist with the honors. Peabody announced the news on Tuesday morning. “For more than six decades, Dan Rather has brought his righteous passion, his intelligence, his boldness, his humor and his commitment to the truth to the public arena,” Parton said before presenting the award to Rather. “His life’s work has been to ask the questions that matter and to tell the stories that matter.”

And just like that, the Television Academy took the “primetime” out of the Primetime Emmys. This year, the qualifying rule stipulates that any programs and individual achievements within them “identify as Primetime program by virtue of genre and [if they] were originally presented during the current eligibility year.” It’s a subtle, but monumental difference as we head into a post-linear era.

Founded in 1934 by the Press Club of Atlantic City, the National Headliner Awards program is one of the oldest and largest annual contests recognizing journalistic merit in the communications industry. The first National Headliner Awards were presented in 1935.  Since then, more than 2,780 Headliner medallions have been presented to outstanding writers, photographers, daily newspapers, magazines, graphic artists, radio and television stations and networks, and news syndicates. Holt was at the annual NAB Show in Las Vegas over the weekend to accept the honor, telling event attendees, “I have so much respect for this medium [broadcast television] and so much belief in its future,” adding, “And yes, the media landscape is rapidly evolving but broadcast programs remain important touchstones in our culture, our society, holding true to a legacy of excellence and integrity while always peeking around the corner of technology to deliver to our audiences where they are and how they consume our work and product.”

Kelly Abcarian, EVP of measurement and impact at NBCUniversal and one of this year’s TVNewsCheck Women in Technology Futurist Award winners, sees measurement as a “team sport” that will be “all about collaboration” that her work is helping to realize.

Only Murders in the Building, The Underground Railroad, The Wonder Years and Yellowjackets also are among the 60 projects chosen by the board of jurors; the 30 winners will be announced in June.

The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation today announced the winners of the 47th Annual Gracie Awards, honoring exemplary programming created by, for and about women in radio, television, cable and interactive media.

The 73^rd annual awards will be presented in partnership with NAB in Las Vegas on April 25. The event will be hosted by CBS Sunday Morning journalist David Pogue and feature Rich Little.

Looking a little surprised at being in the world again after a two-year pandemic, media industry glitterati gathered at New York’s Plaza Hotel to present the Broadcasters Foundation of America’s Golden Mike and Lifetime Achievement and Awards to Gray Television’s Hilton Howell and pioneering sportscaster Leslie Visser.

As the 27th annual Critics Choice Awards celebrated the best in television and film, Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog and Ted Lasso led the night’s winners with four trophies apiece. Succession, Belfast and Dune each took home three awards.
