Bowling for Dollars was a long-running TV program that featured, well, you can probably guess. Now it’s a strategy for Fox Corp. and the new owner of the nation’s biggest bowling association. Fox Sports this past weekend presented its second season of Professional Bowlers Association matches as part of a four-year deal it struck with the sports league in 2018, ending decades of bowling matches that aired on ABC and, later, ESPN.
Professional bowling is changing lanes: The Professional Bowlers Association will move its matches and games to the 21st Century Fox-owned network, ending a decades-long alliance it has enjoyed with ESPN, and a shorter-term relationship it has with CBS Sports Network. In doing so, the PBA will establish a new presence for the sport on broadcast television.
