Bud Selig, the commissioner of Major League Baseball, said Thursday that he plans to retire in January 2015. Selig’s career included a massive drug scandal and a canceled World Series, but Selig, 79, was also responsible for launching the MLB Network and centralizing the sport’s digital rights under MLB.com.
