In February, 2016, it accounted for 2.364 billion minutes, almost a tripling. February has been a high-water mark, but political news hit one billion minutes in June of 2015 and has grown steadily since.

There have already been 24 of them across CNN, Fox News and MSNBC, up from just a handful in the entire 2012 campaign.
