Actor and television host Mario Lopez will emcee the live, in-person event honoring broadcasters’ public service. Presenters include CBS Sports’ James Brown, ABC News’ Juju Chang, musician/singer Maggie Rose and syndicated radio show host Angela Yee.

The Celebration of Service to America Awards highlight and honor the exceptional community service exhibited by local radio and television stations across the U.S. Produced by the NAB Leadership Foundation, the 2021 program was presented as a televised program and is available for airing by local stations through Aug. 14.

The one-hour program honoring radio and television stations across the country for their exceptional community service premieres Aug. 22 at 7:00 p.m. ET.

The National Association of Broadcasters has pulled the plug on its physical Celebration of Service to America awards gala in Washington June 9. Instead, there will be a virtual event sometime in the summer, but one that will add the “unparalleled efforts of broadcasters during the COVID-19 pandemic” to those being celebrated.
The musician will receive the NAB Education Foundation’s Service to America Leadership Award on June 20 at NABEF’s Celebration of Service to America Awards on June 20.
TV stations to be honored for their outstanding community service are KUSA Denver; KOBI Medford, Ore.; and WCVB Boston. The ceremony will be held in Washington on June 17.
