Cobra Kai has taken the championship belt on Nielsen’s streaming chart upon the release of its fifth season on Sept. 9. During the week of Sept. 5-11, Netflix’s continuation of the Karate Kid film franchise led the Overall and Original streaming programs list with 1.7 billion viewing minutes.
Bridgerton jumped back in front of Cobra Kai to retake the top spot in Nielsen’s U.S. streaming rankings for the week of Jan. 11-17, with sci-fi movie Outside the Wire helping Netflix sweep the top 10. The Shonda Rhimes-produced period romance drew just shy of 1.4 billion total minutes of viewing, outpacing Cobra Kai, which had 1 billion.
Netflix’s Cobra Kai and Bridgerton remained head and shoulders above the rest of the streaming world for the first full week of 2021, although the two shows swapped rankings from the previous week. Cobra Kai topped the chart for Jan. 4-10, with Netflix users watching some 2.11 billion minutes’ worth of the show’s three seasons.
