Rep. Matsui Circulates C-Band Compromise Bill

As promised at a recent hearing, Rep. Doris Matsui, co-chair of the Congressional Spectrum Caucus, has released a discussion draft of a C-Band repurposing compromise bill, the Wireless Investment Now in 5G Act, that would have the FCC auctioning some or all of the (3700-4200 MHz) midband spectrum in its effort to free up more airwaves for next-gen wireless broadband.

Rep. Doris Matsui (D-Calif.), co-chair of the Congressional Spectrum Caucus, said Wednesday she is working on a bill, the WIN 5G Act, that would offer a compromise approach to the thorny issue of freeing up C-band spectrum for wireless broadband.

Matsui Named Vice Chair Of Comm. Subcommittee

Rep. Doris Matsui of California has been named vice chair of the House Communications Subcommittee. The Subcommittee is chaired by Rep. Mike Doyle (D-Pa.). Matsui has been an active member of the subcommittee, particularly on high-tech issues like the Internet of Things and blockchain, and pushing for strong net neutrality rules.

Prior To FCC Vote, Dems Revive Net Neutrality

A pair of congressional Democrats is bringing back legislation to ban “fast lanes” on the Internet, weeks before federal regulators weigh in. Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and Rep. Doris Matsui (D-Calif.) are introducing the Online Competition and Consumer Choice Act on Wednesday, as one of the first acts in the new Congress.
