In a ceremony hosted by ABC News Anchor David Muir and CNN News Anchor Audie Cornish, the duPont-Columbia University Awards announced 15 Silver Baton winners. TV stations honored include KXAS, Dallas, KUSA Denver, WGBH Boston and, WETA Washington, WANF Atlanta. Here’s the list of winners and finalists (including WKBW Buffalo, WXYZ Detroit and WBBM Chicago.
KNTV’s Investigative Series Wins duPont Award
KHOU’s Police Investigation Wins duPont Award
KARE Wins duPont For Investigative Reporting
WITI Wins Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award
They are KNXV Phoenix (Scripps), KARE Minneapolis (Tegna), KHOU Houston (Tegna), KNTV San Francisco (NBC) and WITI Milwaukee (Tribune). Also winning awards are ABC News, CBS News and PBS, plus Netflix, HBO and National Geographic Networks. The awards will be presented on Jan. 16, 2018.
WVIT Wins DuPont Award For Investigations
Four 2017 Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Awards go to local television news investigations: KXAN in Austin, Texas, for documenting racial profiling, WVIT in West Hartford, Conn., for uncovering widespread faulty home construction, Indianapolis’ WTHRfor exposing a corrupt charity, and Atlanta’s WXIA for spotlighting problems with the 911 emergency system.
WRAL Documentary Wins duPont Columbia Award
WBAL Reporter Wins duPont-Columbia Award
The station winners are WRAL Raleigh, N.C.; WBAL Baltimore; WNYC New York; WETA Washington; KMOV St. Louis; and Arizona PBS.
KPNX Phoenix; WFTS Tampa, Fla.; WLTX Columbia, S.C.; and WTSP Tampa, Fla., as well as WNET New York will be honored at the June 20, 2015, ceremony honoring “accurate and fair reporting about important issues that are powerfully told.”
Among this year’s winners are KMGH Denver, KSHB Kansas City, WBEZ Chicago, WBZ Boston, WFAA Dallas and WVUE New Orleans, plus CBS, NBC, PBS, Univision and ESPN
The annual awards for broadcast journalism go to KCET Los Angeles, KING Seattle, KUSA Denver, WGBH Boston, WTHR Indianapolis and WKOW Madison, Wis. Also honored are ABC’s 20/20 and CBS’s 60 Minutes.
