
The RTDNA Foundation will honor nine individuals at the 32nd annual First Amendment Awards, recognizing their efforts to promote responsible journalism and preserve the constitutionally guaranteed rights to do so. Honorees will be recognized at the 32nd annual First Amendment Awards, March 2 at the Marriott Marquis in Washington, D.C. Television honorees are Rashida Jones of MSNBC, Jordan Wertlieb of Hearst Television and Boyd Huppert of KARE Minneapolis.

The Radio Television Digital News Foundation has announced the winners of the 30th annual First Amendment Awards. They represent the role journalists play in local and national media to practice the First Amendment. A total of seven awards will be given, to ABC’s David Muir, 60 Minutes, NBC’s Bob Horner, Hearst’s Barbara Maushard, Telemundo’s Lori Montenegro, Sen. Richard Blumenthal and WFLA’s Steve Andrews.
Ann Compton, the longtime ABC newswoman and White House press corps vet, has been named RTDNA’s 2015 First Amendment Award honoree. She was the first woman assigned to cover the White House on a full-time basis by a network television news organization.
The recipients of the First Amendment Awards presented annually by the Radio Television Digital News Foundation are Gannett Co.’s David Lougee, NBC News’ Lester Holt, ABC News’ Robin Sproul and the Associated Press’ Gary Pruitt. In addition, CBS News’ Bill Plante will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. The ceremony takes place in Washington on March 12, 2014.
