Cable News Networks, ESPN Get FCC Audio Description Exemption

The FCC has officially approved requests from CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and ESPN to be exempt from audio description rules that are required of top national non-broadcast networks, based on the amount of non-live linear programming the networks offer per calendar quarter. However, there is an exception available for networks that don’t air at least 50 hours per quarter of primetime programming that is not live or near-live.

Voting Tech Firm Files $2.7 Billion Defamation Lawsuit Against Fox Corp., Hosts

Smartmatic USA said today that it filed a $2.7 billion lawsuit against Fox Corp., threeof its hosts and two former lawyers for former President Donald Trump — Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell — for $2.7 billion, charging that the defendants conspired to spread false claims that the company helped “steal” the U.S. presidential election.

Layoffs Follow Fox News Restructuring

Fox News Media said that it was restructuring some of its divisions, with a reduction of its workforce by less than 3%. “As Fox News Media has evolved into a streamlined multi-platform organization, we are realigning several functions and restructuring various divisions in order to position all of our businesses for ongoing success,” the network said in a statement. No on air talent is impacted by the staff reductions.

Wigdor asked for more than $60 million to settle several disputes with Fox News and 21st Century Fox, according to two people familiar with the matter. The company would not accept Wigdor’s offer and no resolution was reached, said the people.
