The CW has decided to give its Southern charmer drama Hart of Dixie an earlier-than-expected premiere date, pairing it for one night next month — Monday, Dec. 15 — with critically acclaimed newcomer Jane the Virgin.
The abbreviated fourth season of the CW’s small town medical dramedy Hart of Dixie will debut on Jan. 9, 2015, and air in the series’ most recent Friday 9 p.m. slot. In announcing the return date for Hart of Dixie, the CW did not say that it would be the show’s final season as has been rumored.
CW Renews Three, Cancels Two
The CW has renewed Gossip Girl and Nikita as well as freshman drama Hart of Dixie and ended the run of buzzy freshman dramas Ringer and The Secret Circle.
In one fell swoop, The CW has given full-season orders to all of its three freshmen series. Following the pickup of Ringer earlier Wednesday, the network also has given back-nine orders to fellow rookies Hart Of Dixie and The Secret Circle.
CW Picks Up Three Shows For Fall
Ringer, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, was originally developed by CBS which then passed it on to its sister network. The Secret Circle comes from The Vampire Diaries executive producer Kevin Williamson and Andrew Miller. Hart of Dixie re-teams The O.C. creator Josh Schwartz with star Rachel Bilson.
