The I Love Lucy special on CBS drew 8.7 million viewers to rank as last Friday night’s most-watched program and No. 16 for the week overall. CBS averaged 8.8 million viewers in primetime, followed by NBC with 8.1 million. ABC had 5.1 million, Fox had 3.4 million, Univision had 2.8 million, Telemundo had 1.3 million and Ion Television had 1.4 million. CW had 980,000.
The I Love Lucy Christmas Special will feature colorized episodes of the 1950s CBS comedy series: the seldom-seen “Christmas Episode,” and “Lucy’s Italian Movie” (aka The Grape Stomping Episode). “The Christmas Episode” was first presented as part of the series in December 1956. The episode wasn’t included in the series’ long history of rebroadcasts, first on CBS Daytime and later in syndication, the network noted, adding that it was thought to be “lost” until CBS “found” it — in 1989.
