Jay Leno returned to his Tonight Show stomping grounds, making an unannounced cameo during Jimmy Fallon’s opening monologue Tuesday night. Leno’s appearance comes as a surprise, though the timing is no mistake: his upcoming show Jay Leno’s Garage premieres Wednesday on NBC’s sister network, CNBC, so his spot makes for a perfect in-house promotion.
Jay Leno says it’s been easy to lure Francis Ford Coppola, Laurence Fishburne and other famous folks to his new car-centric TV show. All he has to do is assure them that Jay Leno’s Garage, debuting at 10 p.m. ET Wednesday on CNBC, won’t veer off the road.
Jay Leno’s Garage will premiere next year and “will be about anything that rolls, explodes and makes noise,” says Leno. “We hope to highlight the passion and the stories behind the men and women who made the automobile the greatest invention of the 20th century.”
