Lawmakers Press FCC On Media Diversity

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) and 51 other lawmakers, including members of the Congressional Black Caucus, are urging the FCC to ensure that upcoming mergers include “enforceable commitments” to boost media ownership, programming, advertising and other opportunities for women and minorities.

FCC Asked About Lack Of Minority Ownership

In a letter to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski, The Leadership Conference of Civil and Human Rights, a coalition of various rights groups, asks him to review how ownership rules are affecting opportunities for minorities to rise up the corporate ladder.
