In a story on illegal child labor, no detail is more important than age. That’s an axiom that NBC News and Noticias Telemundo illuminated on Wednesday with a retraction of an April 12 report that was “withdrawn in light of new information that the migrant is not a minor.” They did the right thing in withdrawing the joint report.
The longtime Univision executive will now oversee all production and technological operations at Noticias Telemundo, and will report to Noticias Telemundo chief Patsy Loris. He will be responsible for studio and field operations of news productions, and will be based in Miami, home to the state-of-the-art Telemundo Center which houses the news division’s studios.

This morning Telemundo announced the appointment of Julio Vaqueiro as the lead anchor of Noticias Telemundo, the network’s flagship weekday evening newscast. He steps into the new role on Sept. 27.
