Johnny Hardwick, who voiced the conspiracy-minded character Dale Gribble on King of the Hill, died Aug. 8 at his home in Austin, Texas. Hardwick and his character with the distinctive Texas drawl had been with the Emmy-winning animated series since its debut in 1997 through its final episode on Fox in 2010. Earlier this year, Hulu, where the reruns currently stream, announced that Hardwick would return for the series’ streaming revival.

Angus Cloud, the actor who starred as the drug dealer Fezco “Fez” O’Neill on the HBO series Euphoria, died Monday. No cause of death was given.
Herman created Pee-wee when he was part of the Los Angeles improv group The Groundlings in the late 1970s. The live Pee-wee Herman Show debuted at a Los Angeles theater in 1981 and was a success with both kids during matinees and adults at a midnight show. HBO would air the show as a special. The character with his too-tight gray suit, white chunky loafers and red bow tie was best known for the film Pee-wee’s Big Adventure and the CBS series Pee-wee’s Playhouse, which ran for five seasons and earned 22 Emmys.
Sineád O’Connor, the troubled Irish singer and activist who scored a global smash with Prince’s Nothing Compares 2 U in 1990 and was banned from Saturday Night Live for tearing up a photo of Pope John Paul II during her performance two years later, has died at 56, according to a statement from her family provided to Irish TV and radio broadcaster RTÉ. No details on the cause, date or place of her death were given.
Bill Geddie, the legendary TV producer known for co-creating The View and being Barbara Walters’ longtime producer, has died at the age of 68. His death was due to coronary-related factors. Geddie served as executive producer for The View for 17 years.
R. Robert Popeo, the chairman of the powerhouse law firm Mintz Levin and an integral part
of Boston’s business and civic communities for more than 40 years, died on Monday. He was 85.
He worked at WNBC New York for more than 25 years – from 1958 to 1984, then moved cross-town to WCBS, and ended his TV career at WWOR in 2004. During his time at WNBC, he added degrees in geology and optometry at Columbia University, then a doctorate from Albert Einstein College of Medicine adding health and science reporting to his broadcast portfolio. David Bohrman, a longtime producer and news executive who was responsible for innovations in live and special events and breaking news, including at CNN and other networks, died on Sunday. He was 69. “He was the creator of more news programming than almost any other producer working in television news today,” CNN’s leadership team wrote in a memo to employees on Sunday evening.
